Have you had any previous roles, and if so, what were they and how long did you work in the role(s)? I've worked for Hillbrush since 1995 and in that time have worked picking & packing in the warehouse (3yrs), then I was supervisor in charge of the warehouse (2yrs), after that I was moved to the sales office (5yrs), then I became Procurement Manager (12yrs) and now Product Manager.

Have you received any training or guided development during your employment? Whilst Procurement Manager I did an NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration and am now signed on for a Product Management course.

What do you think sets Hillbrush apart from other companies / employers to work for? Longevity of its workforce. Being a family run business the workforce is the same with generational members of the same families working in various departments. Also being established in the same local area the company was founded in adds to that image of sustainability.

What are some of your favourite things about the new facility at Norwood Park? Easier access to departments, better flow of information in the open plan office, cleaner.

What advice would you give to anyone hoping to work at Hillbrush? Attention to detail and dedication are rewarded, Hillbrush's name is built on the quality of our products.

Visit Hillbrush Employee

What is your current role at Hillbrush? Visitor Centre Assistant Manager.

Have you had any previous roles, and if so, what were they and how long did you work in the role(s)? No previous roles within Hillbrush, however I worked at Waitrose in Salisbury for almost 7 years.

Have you received any training or guided development during your employment? I have received formal fire warden training & first aid training. I have also received training on the brushes we sell and what they are used for. The Visitor Centre is still quite new, so we are all learning and developing all the time.

What do you think sets Hillbrush apart from other companies / employers to work for? Coming from a major supermarket which is always so formal and strict. Hillbrush is a well-established company but it hasn’t lost the ‘family’ concept. From my first interview, I was made to feel welcome and that hasn’t stopped.

What are some of your favourite things about the new facility at Norwood Park? It’s so open and airy, the open plan restaurant gives a welcoming feel to both customers and staff alike. It’s modern without being too over the top. The kitchen is fitted with really good equipment which makes life for the kitchen staff so much easier.

What advice would you give to anyone hoping to work at Hillbrush? Be yourself. Its sounds so cliché but it really is the only way. The people here are so welcoming, it’s so easy to fit in. So be you and you’ll have no problem.
